Guido Larisch comes from a family of musicians from Hanover. In addition to his training in piano and cello under Rudolf Metzmacher, André Navarra, Friedrich Jürgen Sellheim and Klaus Storck at the music academies in Hanover and Detmold, in 1977 he started playing the Baroque cello at the Studio for Historical Music at Hanover University for Music, Drama and Media under Lajos Rovotkay. In the following years he guested as a section leader and soloist at many ensembles and orchestras, including at Les Musiciens du Louvre under Marc Minkowski for two years. He was an ensemble member in the Ensemble Musica Alta Ripa, the Apponyi Quartet and the Trio Cantabile. Recently, Guido Larisch has often been invited to be a section leader and continuo cellist by various opera houses (e.g. the Hamburgische Staatsoper, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Teatro Liceu Barcelona). A whole range of his CD recordings of chamber music have won prizes. Guido Larisch has been a member of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra since 1989.
