Dane Roberts

Dane Roberts studied Double Bass in the US at the University of Southern California (with Milton Kestenbaum).and The California Institute of the Arts. and further in Europe where he studied with Prof. Johannes Auersperg at the University for Music in Graz as well as master classes with Francesco. Petrracci in Siena and Sermonetta , Italy . Mr. Roberts has since specialised in the "Historical Double Bass/Violone" studying Viola da Gamba and becoming an active participant in the early music movement. He currently resides in Germany

Since 1986, he has been a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. In addition to this ensemble he is an active freelance artisit working with numerous leading European ensembles such as the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, Musica Antiqua Köln, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, Camerata Academia Salzburg, Merlin Ensemble in Vienna, the Orchestra of the 18th Century, Ensemble der Mozartwoche in Salzburg,The Ensemble Modern, Anima Eterna and Concentus Musicus  Wien.

He teaches regularly at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main and at the Händel-Akademie in Karlsruhe. In March 2008 Dane Roberts became a permanent member of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra.
