The Society of the Friends and Patrons of the FBO e.V.

The Society of the Friends and Patrons of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra e.V. (known until 2008 under its former name Circle of Friends of the FBO e.V.) has accompanied the work of the FBO for over 20 years. The purpose of this charitable society is “to give people a greater appreciation of the historical performance techniques of works of music, principally the music of the Baroque and Classic periods. It accomplishes this aim by organising concerts of the FBO alone or with third parties.” The Society also finances, for example, the introductory talks before the subscription concerts of the FBO in Freiburg, Stuttgart and Berlin.

The Society offers its members an exclusive opportunity to have a “look behind the scenes” of the orchestra: they can watch the musicians at work during visits to rehearsals, or even accompany them on tour. Members also receive the FBO’s Newsletter About baroque (published three times a year), which includes interviews with prominent soloists and musicians of the orchestra, information on CD projects, upcoming concerts etc.

The Society of the Friends and Patrons is a charitable organisation; both the subscription fee and donations (welcome at any time) are tax-deductible:
