Philippe Jaroussky!

Sunday, 19 February 2012, Amsterdam, Concertgebouw

During recent years countertenor Philippe Jaroussky has sung his way to the top of the international classical music scene. The press and public are unanimous in their enthusiasm for the unusual capabilities of this exceptional artist. "No-one can resist his singing", DIE ZEIT wrote, for example. In the eighteenth century the English music historian Charles Burney similarly praised the famous Farinelli: "He entrances his listeners through the strength, range and wonderful sound of his voice alone. He amazes them even without playing anything, without articulation or expression." Philippe Jaroussky and the musicians of the FBO bring time to a standstill on an evening of the twentyfirst century, with selected arias and instrumental works by George Friderick Handel.
