Bach's violin concertos

Johann Sebastian Bach's concertos for one, two and three violins belong to the musical portfolio of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, and eventually they have recorded them for harmonia Mundi France. The release of this CD is in March 2013. Until summer the musicians of the FBO (with its two concertmasters as soloists) will enjoy this wonderful music in a couple of live performances in Germany, Great Britain, Scandinavia, Austria, and Spain.

A new CD with Hille Perl and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra

In November 2012 the second CD with Hille Perl and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra has been released by Sony Music (deutsche harmonia mundi). After the acclaimed Telemann CD with "Concertos for viola da gamba" the musicians (under the direction of Petra Müllejans) have chosen some less known concertos by Johann Pfeiffer, Johann Gottlieb Graun, and Georg Philipp Telemann (the last one being, in fact, a concerto for viola da gamba and recorder, with flutist Han Tol). In addition to these concertos with orchestra, Hille Perl plays three magical solo works by Carl Friedrich Abel.

FBO and Bezuidenhout with Mozart concertos on CD

The first CD recorded in the newly built ensemble house has been released in October 2012 by harmonia Mundi France. It features fortepiano star Kristian Bezuidenhout and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Petra Müllejans with a bunch of Mozart's finest pieces for piano and orchestra: the concertos K.453 & K.482 and the Rondo in A major K.386.
The first press reactions were enthusiastic, praising the "almost chamber-music quality" of the recording and the "irrepressible imagination and vitality of Bezuidenhout's playing".

NEW: "FBO's Youth Sneak Preview" at the ensemble house

On 20 October 2012 the musicians of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra for the very first time gave a "Youth Sneak Preview" at the ensemble house: One day before their regular subscription concert at the Konzerthaus Freiburg they presented Beethoven's Fifth symphony to young listeners aged between 10 and 18 years  with a concert moderation explaining the piece, the period instruments, and telling them some related episodes from the composer's life. Afterwards there was time for a cup of tea, biscuits and a chat between audience and musicians.
The next "Youth Sneak Preview" will take place on 1 May 2013 (with Bach's Brandenburg Concertos).
